So before I left on my last trip, I went ahead a pulled the one and only tiny tomato off my big tomato plant. It wasn't quite ripe enough to eat, but it didn't look like it would tolerate being left on the plant for another four days, as it was already looking a bit beat up. I brought it inside, and set it on an open space near the edge of the counter, back along the wall. I'm a fool for doing so. At some point while I was away a cat got up on the counter(where they aren't allowed to be but go anyway) and decided to knock it off the counter. Where did it end up???D.C. appears to be shaking his head at the sight of an inedible(for him anyway) tomato sitting in his food bowl. "What the *!#% is this!?!"

I caught another grasshopper on my tomato plant. I let Figment check it out through the window before I carried it away to the tall grass at the end of our building and let it go. She was only mildly interested. The grasshopper didn't do much other than poop on my hand while I was holding it there. I'm not sure Figment even realized what I had on my hand.

My upside down tomato plant didn't do so well while I was away for about four days. Temperatures were in the upper nineties, clear skies, and no rain. The leaves got all wilted looking, but a few hours after I watered the outdoor plants, they were looking normal again.

The regular tomato plant still has only one tomato(still small and green) but many more flowers on it that it has had in the past. Does that mean it will make more tomatoes? The other plants in self watering containers handled the heat and sun a little better. Of course the day after I got home and gave them all a good soaking, we had thunderstorms moving through the area all day that dumped a decent amount of rain. Wish that would have happened while I was away.

Another "gypsy pepper" ready to be picked. I see a salad in it's future.

It can be confusing trying to make sense of all the environmental claims plastered on food products lining grocery store aisles. Here’s the truth behind the print.

Behold! One tomato! It's hidden from view on the inside of the giant bush that the tomato plant has become. It keeps growing, but only occasionally produces flowers that ultimately don't do anything.


The upside down(still rightside up) tomato container plants are still growing. I think I'm going to wait to flip it until the plants need a cage around them. Then I'll let gravity do the work for me.


The "gypsy pepper" plant is producing more peppers. I ate the first two raw(Amber wasn't interested in them) and they tasted more or less like red bell peppers.


My green bell peppers keep getting bigger and bigger. No sign of the grasshopper that was eating the plant.
